How to calculate flooring

The formula: boxes = ceil( area × (1 + waste) ÷ box coverage )

  1. Measure the room length and width in feet.
  2. Multiply length × width to get the floor area in square feet.
  3. Add about 10% for cuts, pattern matching, and mistakes.
  4. Divide by the coverage per box (often 20 sq ft) and round up.
